Sunny
2012
Found objects, fabric, wire, Rit dye
17"
$80
Sunny is one of the happier Creepy Babies I've created. Her head, arms and legs are wired to a chrome armature that was a utensil holder. Her dress is made entire of fabric strips. Pale yellow gauzy fabric on the skirt and nearly transparent yellow silky fabric over dark red fleece strips make up the bodice. Her "hair" is yellow dyed canvas strips that were curtain tiebacks. She is in a sitting position with semi flexible limbs

Wrapped Down

Found objects, plaster gauze, wire acrylic paint
15"
$60
Wrapped Down was a fun sculpture to make. He is not wrapped like the usual figures I use. The plaster gauze has been applied vertically rather than horizontally. He appears to be thinner than horizontally wrapped figures. The armature is a wine server. The glass globes are from a broken IKEA light fixture attached with copper wire. The figure is pinned in place between the bottle neck portal and the bottom rest of the armature.

This piece includes parts from a broken necklace that consisted of plastic beads shaped like nuts. The figure is wired to an armature that was a silverware caddy. The wire used is a steel wire wrapped in gold foil that was found at SCRAP in Portland, Oregon. The figure's chest is adorned with a piece of broken jewelry. His arms are restrained at the back of the armature with golden wire.

Two Men and a Carriage
2012
Found objects, plaster gauze, wire, fabric strips
13"
$65
I just had to make this piece. I bought the carriage/pram at a thrift store and it was originally some type of potted plant holder. I took out the holder for the pot and began to make this into a fussy pram style carriage. Naturally I put one figure in the carriage and the other at the helm, but with a twist. The figure pushing the carriage has his feet on the back axle. I wanted this to look like a metaphor for when men start heading into child rearing for the first time. The carriage is weighted, with rocks from my yard, on the front to prevent the entire piece from tipping. All 4 wheels are on axles that rotate, so the piece can roll forward or backward.

Found objects, plaster gauze, concrete, wire, acrylic paint

$60
This is the fourth in a series of experiments with different wrappings for the central figure. The figure is draped in the plaster gauze. With 2-D pictures its hard to make out the figure with the angular gauze hanging at different lengths. The figure is wired into place, literally, to the inside of a chrome ring. The figure is hand painted in acrylic paint to seal the plaster gauze.

With 2-D pictures its hard to make out the figure with the angular gauze hanging at different lengths. The figure is cemented in place, literally, to the top of a pillar candle holder. I used quick setting cement that was left over from a friend's project. The figure is hand painted in acrylic paint to seal the plaster gauze.

Priscilla
Priscilla
2012
Found objects, plastic sheeting, wire, tree branches
20"
$120
This piece is the first in a series using porcelain dolls. The figures are stripped of their finery, wigs and hats. They are painted with metallic paint which wipes over their features and leaves their faces with the blank look of a cyborg or robot. With Priscilla I used several strips of plastic sheeting to create a garment which drapes over a chrome underframe. I used found tree branches to create a head piece for her in lieu of a hat or wig. Her piercing blue eyes and awkward arm gestures give her a spooky uneasy presence.

Found objects, plaster gauze, wire, acrylic paint

$195
This is the last available sculpture from the Medical Experimentation series of 2009. The found objects are all very bright shiny silver with a trough of acrylic paint medium at the rear. Each doll on the side is wired into the doll in the center. I used copper wire and curled it for visual texture. The figures on the sides are standing in shallow pools of glue representing bile or fluids.

The mummies from this piece have been with me for a few years. The stainless steel base is an IKEA lamp that no longer functions. The mummies were enclosed in a light gauzy fabric. A gooey bead medium coats their heads and other parts of the gauze and dried moss was applied to their heads and to the ends of each tentacle. I made this part of the Medical Experiment Series and the inspiration is straight from the Matrix movies. I wanted to make this piece for several months and finally executed it in the spring of 2009. All the parts had been with me for almost 3 years before the sculpture was created.

$75.00
Orangie Porgie is one of the more recent Creepy Babies whose body is a metal armature. Most of the vinyl dolls have a whole body but often I find dolls with a soft body consisting of polyester and cotton...and that's not nearly creepy enough. Soft bodied dolls are taken apart and dyed like the other dolls and I use other found objects to complete their torso.

Geek is part of the series from my first web show, Heroes or Villains...or as the postcard for my party read, Heores or Villains. Nothing screams professional like a typo. The series explored a main figure using other "people" as energy sources for their machines. The sculptures were meant to be complicated, large, multi-mummy and kinda scary to look at. The works are also heavy with large amounts of metal, wire and plastered dolls. I also used several broken cell phones to communicate the computer components of the machines. One cannot operate a death ray gun if one does not have a computer linked to it.

Part of the Heroes or Villains series this piece uses larger laptop parts and what I think was a shot glass caddy. The figure on the backside is barely visible, but he's the one pulling all the strings. The row of mummy heads on the bottom layer were from Pier One's Halloween offering from 2007. The plastic skulls are slightly misshapen and when plaster wrapped appear to be more alien than human.
